HOW MUCH STONE DO I NEED?
There are several variables which will determine how much stone you need. The type of stone, how it is stacked, how you're going to use it, & what you are using it for. - for stone walls you You need to know the width height & lentgh of the wall you plan to build. The general rule for stability is half as wide as it is tall. For instance, if you wanted a 4ft. high wall, it should be 2ft. wide. Once you know the dimensions, then you can figure a full pallet is approximately 3ft. x 4ft. x 30in. or 25 - 30 cu. ft. - for cladding, patios, and other applications where the stone is lain flat, you need to know the coverage area (length x width) and the thickness of the type of stone you plan to use. Also the space between stones for mortar will affect the amount of stone needed. A pallet of thin will cover approximately 100 sq. ft. A pallet of path steppers will cover approximately 50 - 60 sq. ft. |
